Previously overweight Shekhar has already had a taste of an unhealthy lifestyle, but there’s still a long way to go, he says.
Tell us a little about yourself.
“I’m an entertainer by profession, and became a stand up comedian after I got married. That's where the jokes come from!"
Why is your fight name Sunshine?
“That's my golden retriever's name.”
Why join The Transformation?
“I think it's is a very interesting concept. I used to be overweight – 125 kilos! – and when I used to stand on the weighing machine it used to to say, ‘Please turn over’. I was a couch potato. I spent my time gaming, watching cricket and binge eating junk food; I also had a desk job, so that meant zero exercise."
When did you realize you had to make a lifestyle change?
“A lot of people told me I need to lose weight, but I wasn’t too bothered. But I remember sitting on a plastic chair and watching a game once, and the chair broke. That was my moment of truth; that’s when it hit me hard. So I lost some weight and now I can stand on the weighing machine without breaking it, but there’s still a long way to go."
